Meeting Time:

Dive Sites:

The Kona Coast has 60 dive sites ranging from 1 minute boat ride to over an hour away. Our 2-tank morning charter accesses about 40 of those all within a 20 minute boat ride.

They are all so wonderful, it's sometimes hard for us to pick!

We generally find that the dive sites with the best condition (no swell, no current) will be the best for the day. Once we've decided on the best conditions, then we'll leave it up to you. Do you want lava tubes and arches? Do you want a deep dive? Is there a special critter you want to see? Is there a special critter we know about?

Once some of those questions are answered, the perfect sites often pick themselves.

Reservations and cancellations:

Reservations are necessary. We recommend that you make your reservations at least a few days in advance. If you are coming at peak holiday times, you may consider making your reservations at the same time as your other travel arrangements.

We have a 48 hour cancellation policy. We are a small operator and ask that you give us 48 hours notice if you will not be able join us. If you give us 48 hours notice there will be no charge for the cancellation.

Very rarely, we are forced to cancel a charter due to weather. (This happens only a couple times a year.). Of course, if we have to cancel, we will give you as much notice as possible. And of course, we won't charge you.

What's Included:

Charter prices include tanks, weights and an experienced, professional guide.

We also provide water, assorted snacks and Patrice's famous brownies.

Our night 2-tank charter includes sandwiches and apres-dive hot chocolate.

We have limited cooler space available if you have special dietary needs and would like to bring your own snacks.

You may rent gear from us. Please notify us ahead of time if you need to rent any gear.

We use 80CF aluminium tanks. We also have 63CF available. You may rent 100CF steels for an additional fee. Supplies are limited, so reservations are on a first come, first serve basis.

Nitrox is also available for an additional fee.

What To Bring:

You should bring:

your certification card,
any personal dive equipment,
towel,
sunscreen,
a sweatshirt or light jacket and hat (for night charters we recommend bringing a spare dry, warmer set of clothes to change into),
your own snacks if you have special dietary requests,
camera,
your sense of adventure.

If you do not have your own dive gear, we have well-serviced, modern gear available for rental. If your sizes fall far outside the ordinary, we may not be able to accommodate you. We also realize that some of our guests want to travel lighter and not bring all their gear. But if you're wondering whether or not to pack those size 16 fins, you should go ahead and pack them. Check with us if you are not sure.

Conditions & Temperatures:

Water temperatures vary from a low around 72 (peaks low in March) and a high of around 80 (peaks high in October).

For most people a 3mm or 5mm is appropriate. If you are doing multiple days, consider layers and a hood.

We use primarily 5mm full suits in our rental fleet. We also have a small selection of 3mm.

Topside conditions are generally sunny with light breezes. Occasional overcast and afternoon showers.

We rarely cancel charters because of weather, but occasionally a strong storm or particularly bad swell will force us to cancel.

Dive Equipment:

We have a full complement of well-maintained, quality dive gear for you to rent.

We use Aqualung and Oceanic BCDs. All of our Aqualung regulators come with a Zoop dive computer.

We will provide you with either a 5mm wetsuit or a 3mm shorty.

We will be happy to set up, break down and rinse your gear.

If you are doing multiple days of diving with us, we can store your gear in our locker. If you are using our gear, your gear will also follow you throughout your diving.

From Kailua-Kona:

Honokohau Marina and Small Boat Harbor is about 2 miles north of town.
Follow Queen K (Hwy 11/19) north toward the airport to Kealakehe Pkwy (second light after you pass Makala)
Turn LEFT onto Kealakehe Pkwy.
Take your first RIGHT. You will see the boatyard on your right.
Approximately 1/4 mile, you will see a gas station/deli on your left.
Make the left immediately after the gas pumps into a parking lot.
You will see boats on trailers and a boat ramp.
You have arrived. Look for a big silver boat with the Pacific Rim Divers logo on the bow.

From Kohala:

Honokohau Marina and Small Boat Harbor is about 4 miles south of Kona Airport.
Follow Queen K (Hwy 11/19) south toward the Kona to Kealakehe Pkwy (second light after you pass Costco on your left, next light after Kaloko-Honokohau National Park)
Turn RIGHT onto Kealakehe Pkwy.
Take your first RIGHT. You will see the boatyard on your right.
Approximately 1/4 mile, you will see a gas station/deli on your left.
Make the left immediately after the gas pumps into a parking lot.
You will see boats on trailers and a boat ramp.
You have arrived. Look for a big silver boat with the Pacific Rim Divers logo on the bow.

MEETING TIME IS 7:00 A.M.

If you are coming from Waikokoa: Keep in mind that it can take 20 to 30 minutes to get to your car and leave the resort. Times indicated by map applications do not take this into account in their estimates.

During peak holiday times, there could be traffic in both directions. Keep that in mind for morning and afternoon charters.
